The Past Two Weeks (or so...)

Thu Nov 5, 2009, 8:22 PM
OK...so I was looking at a note that I got from a very good friend of mine (probably one of the best in the world) and realized, that in all the chaos that has happened in the past two weeks or so, I haven't updated my journal...

First off I want to say that what happened at Fort Hood today was terrible. it never should have happened. I mean this is home and home is supposed to be safe. what has this world come to. I hope that everyone keeps the injured, dead, and the families in their thoughts (and if you're religious, in your prayers).

So things happening in my life...college is same old same old, nothing really happening there. last Wednesday, our water softener leaked all over the place and made a real big mess...let me tell you why it was so bad...not even a year ago, the bottom of our water heater rusted out and spilled about 50 gal of water all over the garage floor...it also went through the wall and into my parents bedroom and ruined the carpet...the insurance company came out and said that we would be getting new carpet (woot), so we carpeted most of the rooms and even added carpet to the garage floor (we turned it into another room, so no cars in the garage)...well like I said, last Wednesday our water softener cracked and spewed water all over the place for about 4 hrs before we noticed and it did a real number...it soaked the carpet in the garage and went through the wall and into my parents room...my dad was pissed...so for 3 hrs we ripped up carpet, threw out soaked padding, elevated the carpet so it wouldn't mildew, set up fans, moved cinder blocks and waited...oh and since heat grows mold and mildews stuff (the heat and humidity in the air didn't help), we turned the ac down and froze the whole night and the next two days...

Now for what happened today...today (at 12:00-1:15pm) I have a business ethics class at the ACC Northridge campus...well today we were released early and like usual, I took my time to leave, well BIG MISTAKE...I went to open the door and it wouldn't open! I was trying really hard to get the door to open, but it wouldn't...at this time I'm starting to freak and panic, but the other four people in the room with me don't believe me, except the teacher came over and couldn't get the door to open either...a janitor came over and tried to open the door but couldn't, so after ten min or so, she went to get one of the maintenance people to get us out...they tried, but couldn't (the tumbler had gone out), so he goes to get some tools and comes back with a ladder (don't know why), a flat object thing and a really big hammer thing oh and the campus police (who, by the way didn't want to break the very solid door down with his shoulder or foot). meanwhile, the next class is starting to arrive and we're still locked in the classroom...then the maintenance guy starts pounding away with the hammer to get the door handle off of the door and I hated every moment of it...the acoustics in the room were terrible...every time he hit the metal thing with the hammer it sounded like cannons firing and it hurt my ears so bad (I was partially deaf the rest of the day)...finally he got the handle off of the door and we were free...it took almost a full hour to get out of the classroom...very traumatizing...especially when you consider that this was the second time that I've gotten locked inside of a room...when I got to my math class afterward, she closed the door and I wanted to ask if she could leave the door open so I didn't get locked inside another room.

So yeah, I had a pretty interesting past two weeks...

yup XD hey tomorrow is the Fable Fest that the Cedar Park library is hosting. My mom and i are going and i was wondering if you wanted to go with. Here is the info i got about it.

Hey there everybody!!!

We have 2 events this month:

Saturday Nov. 14 – Fable Fest! 10am – 5pm

Anime Club will be running a booth at Fable Fest!

Of course, we’ll be cosplaying! If you would like to cosplay as a Fable from Japanese history, I have a bunch you can choose from, so just let me know and I’ll email you copies of the stories I’ve gathered.

We’ll be selling traditional Japanese snacks, such as rock candy, stuffed rolls, watermelon, and other stuff you probably have never heard of (but trust me, these things are tasty!)

We’ll also be telling Japanese folk tales to people who come up to our booth. Don’t know a story? That’s OK!!! I have plenty of short ones that you can read and learn that same day.

And finally, we’ll be displaying all sorts of interesting Fables in pretty little folders.

Let me know if your interested. The Fable Fest lasts a long time, and we would be happy to give you a ride if you need one.
